Little Creatures In The Shed

Yesterday, after the rain had decided that it was done for the day, I went out to the shed to see if I could get the lawn mower and get the grass cut. I went in and put on my gardening gloves that were all full of mud and dirt from pulling weeds in the veggie garden on Monday. I never cut the grass without my gloves because I hate touching the gasoline can with my bare skin. I can't stand the smell of gasoline on me. Anyway, when I put the mower away the last time I used it I put it in facing forward and when I take it out I always turn it around to face forward when I come out. I grabbed the handle and as I went to turn it I caught sight of something moving slowly. I took a closer look and there on the deck of the lawn mower was a little gray and white mouse looking at me. Of course I let out a scream and the dogs next door started barking. That little mouse would not get off so I turned the mower around facing out of the shed and moved it to the door and he took that little taxi ride on the mower. When I got to the door I stopped and he jumped off and scurried under the firewood and plastic stacking chairs. EEK ! I finished my mowing and put the mower away very carefully looking around for other creatures but I didn't see any. It is very carefully, now that I even enter the shed. I constantly have visions of maybe a squirrel jumping on my head as I walk in. Can you imagine that? There I would be stunned to feel something on my head and with my eyes tightly shut. Gathering all my courage I would open my eyes to see in front of me what would seem to be the tail on a coon skin cap but in my case it would be an alive squirrel skin cap with fluffy tail waving of it's own accord. I know I would let out one of my closed mouthed screams for fear if I opened my mouth a giant spider would drop down from the shed beams and drop directly into my mouth. Not wanting to touch it I would reach for my muddy damp gloves on the bench to shoo away the squirrel and the spider but as I slip my hands into them I would feel not the cold damp mud but something warm and furry. A little striped chipmunk would be poking his eyes and nose out of the hole in the finger of the glove wondering why I had just disturbed his sleep. Okay, the squirrel, spider and chipmunk incidences are just my imagination running wild but there really was a mouse taking a taxi ride on the lawn mower. Now that I've told my big strong hubby about the mouse he is afraid to go into the shed and always has me go in first. Just imagine if there really was a squirrel, giant spider and a chipmunk in the shed too.
