why do we have to wonder?

when you are younger and you have friends..you think you will always be close, but come to find out thats not the case,you are forgotten and that blows.why do we have to wonder if they ever think of us? why should we care if they do or if they don't?
I used to care, now I don't.Life is easier this way.
If I didn't mean anything to anyone back then -well it's their loss not mine.Forget it, I don't have to wonder.
