THE LIST

It started as a game, as most things of signifigance.  We tried to "one up" each other on our knowledge of music.  In fact we were very equal but then the trick was really how quick we could access the knowledge.
We would pick a topic like "women's names" or "days of the week" and then go one for one on song titles with the theme. Trying always to know one more title then our buddy.
Once we had exahusted all available topics we came up with a new idea.  He would give a song title and I would have to come up with a title that had one of the words of his title in it. For example, if his was "Tramp the dirt down" by Elvis Costello, mine would have to have one of those words in it.  It could be "Lady is a Tramp" by Sinatra or "Where the Down Boys Go" by Warrant.

We had no idea what this would blossom into once we had access to an elctronic storage system.

At first the rule was that your new title had to have the last word of the previous title.  Eventually any word was okay. The truth is that there are a couple of phonies that made into the list. Either because we had used all the BABY songs, or they were just damn funny.

This blog is dedicated to Bernie, co-creator of THE LIST.
