I spend far too much time reading – me and Swmbo both – very different tastes of course but we both love reading. I have my shelf of beloved authors, some of the copies almost in bits from use and abuse over the years Sadly I bend pages to mark my place, leave them open face down and damage the spine and receive constant abuse about this from the Light of my life. ‘Twas ever so. I remember as a little lad having my fingers rapped by Great Aunt Therza for reading one of her books with dirty fingers. I reckon the world would be a much better place if they brought Great Aunt Therza’s back, but I digress. Yesterday was a browsing day, and I ended up curled up in bed with The Little World of Don Camillo by Giovanni Guareschi. I first read this certainly 40 years ago and it is still as fresh and relevant and funny and bittersweet as ever. So, today we wholeheartedly plug Guareschi’s wonderful Little World, and the oh so human Don Camillo, his class enemy – nemesis - friend Pepone, and all the folk of that so real and relevant world. So if you aint read it yet, give it try, see what you think Me and Grasshopper think you won’t regret it folks. Honest Injun!!
