The Abortion Debate
I am going to say some things here that I am sure will offend some people but I feel that they need to be said. I am a Christian and so I believe and trust in what the bible says but even if you don't believe in God there are still reasons why abortion is wrong. First think about this. If you are pregnant and I was to punch you in the stomach and this caused you to loose the baby I would/could be charged with murder and sent to jail. Now if this is true then why is it any different for the mother. I mean you cant have it both ways. Either it is a baby and a viable life or it is not. Why is it ok for the mother to kill the baby. The hypocrisy is obvious. I have heard all of the excuses for abortions and they do not pass the common sense test. Here are a few. A teenager gets pregnant and says I am too young to raise a child. Well if you are too young to raise the child then let me suggest that you are to young to have the sex that created the child. We can not keep doing things and not excepting the consequences for our actions. If you have made a bad decision how is that the babies fault. Why should we punish the unborn child for our mistakes? Why not put the child up for adoption? There are thousands of couples out there that would gladly adopt. Now as to the last resort. I call it that becuase every time I speak to some one about abortion and they start to see the truth about it then they always run to the what about rape or last resort argument. I know that rape is a terrible thing and I wish that it never happened but somtimes evil triumphs. I believe that God is the author of life and no one is born without God's ordaining the life. In the book of Jer: "God says before you were in your mothers womb I knew you". Now we do not know what our children will grow up to be. I mean that child that is a product of rape could grow up to be the next President or Billy Grahm we do not know what God's plan for the child could be and again we should not punish the child for the evil act of someone else. Adoption is also still an option. I know that you would probably feel like you would not want a constant reminder of such a horrific event such as rape to be in your body and I pray that God would give you the grace that you need to deal with those feelings and not punish the innocent child. God is able to do more than we could even could ever dream of. If you have already had an abortion I don't want you to feel like God does not love you because he does and he will forgive you. All you have to do is cry out to Him and tell him that you know that you are a sinner in need of his forgiveness and that you except what He has done for us on the cross. God sent His Son Jesus to die on the cross for our sins and if we trust and believe in that we will be forgiven of all our sins. Romans 10:9 says that if we confess with our mouths that Jesus is Lord and believe in our hearts that God raised him from the dead you will be saved. I pray that you will come to know the love and forgiveness that God has given to us. May God bless you .
