Have you wanted to forgive
Someone with whom it's hard to live
Yet, a Dear One who could if need be
Forgive you till eternity,
Who also would strive and stint
To bring you joy and contentment,
Forgetting his own welfare
While he saw that you got your share?
I must discipline my emotions,
Control my heart and notions,
Remembering it is not my part
To judge another's heart,
Realizing my need for mercy often
I should readily my own judgment soften.
Lord, help me to know
That the mean, the ugly all can keep
Resentment and malice and fall asleep,
And it's only reserved for the few
To forgive and start anew,
And he is a Hero True
Who being hated, stoopd not to hating too.
