Ways To Not Lose Your Mind During Endless Flights

Those Long flights are real bothers when you don't have enough to read, watch, listen to, and are stuck with an aisle seat. If you follows these simple tips, everything will be fine.

First, take a moment to peruse the offered games on the back of the seat in front of you. In July of 2009, a popular airline had both super violent Doom and Tower Toppler ready for all those people flying in an aircraft. Not too soon anymore huh?

Reading material is what really comes to people's minds. Those brick-sized fantasy novels seem perfect for reading on the plane, but they will, in fact, become very wearisome after long enough. You might find your thoughts drifting towards some real history. If you're bringing medieval-themed high fantasy, bring some of its opposite along as well: science fiction. If you're not going to get too technical with this, maybe bring some real science along as well. Differing genre's, whatever they are, will keep everything fresh.

Music is the same deal. If you just bring country, you'll be sick of it after 8 hours of the same clouds going by. Make sure your playlist includes a sample of every genre you have, everything you have even the smallest possible interest in. If you only have one kind of music, you could be in for a long journey. Now is the time to start getting some more. (Keep reading for why you should book very early.)

And of course, make sure you have some kind of movie player, be it a small portable DVD player with screen or a full-fledged laptop. A few seasons of a TV show can be awesome for part of the flight, but also at least one really mellow movie, and one really exciting one.

Get the seat you want. This is so important it was saved for last. Do not wait until the last minute, or even the last week, to book your flight if you can help it. Even if you don't book on the actual airline's website (of course get the best deal you can), take a moment to look at the airline's website anyway. Make sure they have a seating chart that displays which seats have been taken already. Make sure you are even allowed to pick your own seats!

Book in advance for the bulkhead, non emergency exit seats, and window seats. Two things about the window seat need to be mentioned: First, make sure you know where the wing is. Some diagrams will show this, others may not. When in doubt, make sure it's not in the middle of the aircraft. Book really early to have this kind of freedom. Second, if you are flying along a coastline, be aware of the side the ocean will be visible from. Whether you like it or hate it, make sure you know what you'll be seeing out your window.

Keep your options open on long flights. You're going to be spending a long time in a cramped space. You have to keep your mind occupied. When you get to wherever it is that you're going, you probably won't need any of it. But it will be worth lugging it all around Europe, if you didn't lose your mind on the way there.
