Confessions of an Old Fashioned Democrat
I am an Old Fashioned Democrat. I believe in dignity, respect, compassion and integrity just like JFK and Jimmy Carter and Barack Obama. Government “by the people (all of them,) for the people and of the people.” Not that far from Old Fashioned Republicans but Trump has thrown them out of balance. I don’t believe government can fix all of our problems but it is a very necessary part of solving our problems.
OK. Bipartisan? What is so difficult about that? Republicans are right in thinking government is not the solution to all our problems. Democrats are right in that government is an important part of the solution. Work it out. We are not enemies. We are all part of a great nation. We solve problems.
The media has succeeded in turning politics in to entertainment. It ain’t a soap opera. It’s not about turning people against each other. It’s about working together to face the future. It’s about dignity, respect, compassion, and integrity. Old Fashioned Democrats and Old Fashioned Republicans need to raise their voice and say “Yes We Can.” If the Wing Nuts win, we all lose.
